Create a New Template

For many sensors, we have already created ready-to-use templates for you. Check the -> Asset Library to see if your desired sensor is already there.

Step by Step: Create an Asset Template

Step 1: Creating the Template

  • Go to Engineering -> Asset Modeling -> + Template

▷ A window will appear. Enter the following information in this window:

  1. Click on Engineering [A]

  2. Click on Asset Modeling [B]

▷ The Asset Model Overview [B1] will open. In the Asset Model Overview, you can see all available asset templates.

  3. Click on [B2]

▷ The window [C] will open.

  4. Give the asset template a name in [C1].

  5. Optional: Activate [C2] to determine whether the asset should be ↗ monitored for inactivity.

  6. If you have completed step 5: Enter the time in [C3] and [C4] that should pass until assets created from this template are displayed as Inactive.

⇄ Otherwise: Proceed to the next step.

  7. Select the map icon in [C5]. This selection indicates which symbol will be used to display assets created from this template on the map.

  8. Click on [C6] to create the asset template.

▷ The asset template is added and appears in the Asset Model Overview [B1]

  9. To edit the asset template, click [D].

▷ The Asset Template Configuration page opens

If you click on [I], the ↗ template will be exported as JSON and can be ↗ imported into other projects.

Step 2: The Template Configuration

[E1]

Host

Name of the asset type

[E2]

Map icon

Symbol with which the asset is displayed on the map.

[E3]

Manufacturer

Name of the manufacturer of the asset type.

[E4]

Asset type translations

Translations of the asset type into different languages.

[E5]

Time to inactivity

Activate to determine whether the asset should be ↗ monitored for inactivity.

[E6]

Bookable

Activates the booking function for the asset: -> Activate Bookable

[E7]

Tracker

Marks the asset as a tracker for location tracking: -> Activate Tracker function

Activate Bookable

After you have created an asset template, you can enable it for bookings to make it available for the Booking App. This process allows you to use assets based on this template for reservations and bookings.

Activate Booking Function

  1. Open Template Configuration: Go to Engineering -> Asset Modeling and select the desired asset template. Then click on the pencil icon to edit the template's configuration.

  2. Activate Booking Option: In the template's configuration settings, you will find the "Bookable" option. Activate this option to enable the asset template for bookings.

    • Automatically Added Attributes: As soon as the booking option is activated, two special attributes are automatically added to the template:

      • occupancy: This attribute indicates how many people are currently in the asset.

      • bookable: This attribute indicates whether the asset is currently bookable or has already been booked.

  3. Integration with the Booking App: If the Booking App is installed, it automatically recognizes the occupancy and bookable attributes. This makes the asset based on this template reservable via the Booking App.

Activate Tracker Function

You can register assets as trackers in the system to then connect them with a Localino Tracker and display them in the Tracking Widget.

Step 1: Open Template Configuration

  1. Navigate to the Configuration: Go to Engineering -> Asset Modeling and select the desired asset template.

  2. Edit the Template: Click on the pencil icon to edit the template's configuration.

Step 2: Activate Tracker Option

  1. Find the Tracker Option: In the template's configuration settings, you will find the Tracker option.

  2. Activate Option: Activate this option to register the asset as a tracker in the system.

Step 3: Add Attributes to the Asset Template

You can add as many attributes as you like to an asset template.

Attributes specify which data the asset template processes.

Example: You are creating an asset template for a temperature sensor. You should therefore add the "Temperature" attribute to the template.

Configure Attributes
  1. Click on Engineering [A]

  2. Click on Asset Modeling [B]

▷ The Asset Model Overview [B1] will open. In the Asset Model Overview, you can see all available asset templates.

  3. For the asset to which you want to add attributes: Click on [D].

▷ The Asset Template Details will open

  4. Under [F] you will see all attributes that have already been created for this asset template. This field may therefore be empty.

  5. Click on [F1] to create a new attribute

▷ The Configure Attributes window will open.

  6. Under [F2] "General", select in [F3] whether the incoming values are analog or digital. Digital values are the values "0" and "1". Analog values are any floating-point numbers.

  7. Activate [F3] if it is an attribute that is calculated from several ↗ other attributes.

  8. Enter an attribute name in [F5].

  9. Enter the subtype of the asset in [F6].

Input – Data is sent from the asset to Eliona. ◈ Output – Data is sent from Eliona to the asset. ◈ Status – Indicates a state (e.g., battery level). ◈ Information – Static or system-related data.

ATTENTION! The subtype can no longer be changed after the asset template has been saved!

  10. Optional: In [F7], specify the unit of the data entering this attribute (e.g., °C, kWh).

  11. Optional: In [F8], select the attribute class. This setting is optional and only relates to the logo.

  12. Optional: In [F9], you can enter ↗ calculations that are applied to data entering this attribute.

  13. Optional: In [F10], enter a JSON path. Eliona uses JSON-Path expressions to identify data elements in the database.

  14. Optional: In [F9], enter a lower limit.

  15. Optional: In [F10], enter an upper limit.

  16. Optional: In [F11], set limits for the attribute:

    Limit low – Minimum value

    Limit high – Maximum value

Step size – Value interval for changes

  17. Optional: Activate [F12] Trending Configuration to specify whether historical values are stored.

On change – Values are only stored when the value changes. This reduces unnecessary data points and saves storage space.

Always – Every value is stored, even if it does not change. This enables a complete data history.

  18. Optional: In [F13], you can set an AR Position where the attribute appears in the Augmented Reality display:

    ◈ No position

    ◈ Top

    ◈ Bottom Left

    ◈ Bottom Right

  19. Optional: Click on [F14] to activate Value Mapping. This allows individual character strings (strings) to be assigned to certain raw values (e.g., "0", "1", "2").

◈ You can find more information in the chapter on ↗ Value Mapping.

  20. Optional: You can adjust the Title Language of the attribute via [F15].

  21. Click on [F16] Save to complete the configuration.

Step 4: Add Characteristics to the Asset Template

Asset characteristics make it possible to store standardized information directly in an asset template. These values can be adopted when an asset is created and later adjusted individually.

  1. Click on the edit pencil [H] to configure the Asset Characteristics for the asset template.

▷ The configuration view for asset characteristics opens.

  2. Click on [H1] to create a new category for asset characteristics.

▷ A window will open for entering the name of the category.

  3. In [H2], select one of the previously created Characteristics Templates.

▷ The predefined attributes and settings of the selected category will be adopted.

  4. In [H3], you can set default values for the asset characteristics.

▷ These values are automatically adopted in every asset that is based on this template.

▷ The values can be adjusted later in the individual assets.

  5. Click on [H4] to further customize the Characteristics Template.

▷ This opens the same configuration view as under Step 4 (see G elements).

  6. Click on [H5] to remove a category from the asset template.

▷ The associated characteristics will also be removed.

  7. Click on [H6] Save to complete the configuration.
