Configure a meter change

This guide explains how to continue counting when the meter is changed without having to start from zero.

Imagine the meter fails for some reason, or you want to replace the old meter with a new one. If you would just consider the new meter, the already measured values would be lost. This can lead to losses and consequential calculation errors.

To avoid losing the already measured values, two practical solution variants are offered in Eliona:

  • Automatic Offset Detection

  • Manually Offset Data

Automatic Offset Detection

The Automatic Offset Detection solution variant is an automatic offset that basically measures the deviation of the current value from the previous value. If the new value is more than 50% lower than the previous value, this most likely indicates an error or a counter that has been replaced. Thus, counting is not continued with the new value, but with the previous one. This avoids that previously measured values are lost.

The Automatic Offset Detection can be set up in the main menu Engineering, in the submenu Asset Editor. You can enable it for each device individually, or en masse.

Individual activation

To turn it on individually, click the 3 dots on the corresponding device to open the menu and select Automatic Offset Detection:

Select the attribute to know which meter you want to set up, in this case it concerns the used energy. Then select also the subtype (input or output).

Clink on Offset to keep changes.

Mass activation

To set up Automatic Offset Detection for multiple devices at once, you can select each affected device with a check mark and then click Automatic Offset Detection, as shown below.

Again, fill in the required fields and click Offset.

Manually Offset Data

With the Manually Offset Data solution variant, the last measured value from the old meter that was replaced can be entered manually. This value is simply added to the new values.

In the Data Offset field, you can now manually record the previous set of values that will be added. Click the Offset button to keep the change.
